A very important part of Julia’s Legacy of Hope’s mission is to comfort kids with cancer. We know all too well what a day, a week, a month can be like for a kid with cancer in the hospital. Child Life was a bright light for Julia whenever they came to the room. Partnering with Child Life, Leslie and her retired teacher colleagues Kathy and Mary Anne, come to Hope to read stories with the children and share themed art projects with music.
We work with teens and toddlers as well. Some are shy, some are enthusiastic, and everyone leaves knowing that someone cares enough to shine a bright light on them! The feeling is mutual, as the children also bring smiles to our faces.
In March 2017, JLOH'S teacher volunteers met many sweet children today at Advocate Children's Hospital. We made pussy willows, Wikki Stick butterflies and read stories to bring in the spring season as well as a bit of happiness to the children. Get well soon children.
