Alicia Halakis, a student of Julia’s dad, was inspired to help kids with cancer by Julia herself. Alicia set up the Andrew High School vs. Sandburg High School charity soccer game for JLOH. Not satisfied with the success of that event, Alicia contacted coach Stacey Lane, Julia’s soccer coach at Oak Forest High School, who got in touch with her connections at The Chicago Red Stars, and as a result in May another charity soccer game occurred, this time between Oak Forest High School and their rival, Tinley Park High School, at Toyota Park in Bridgeview, Illinois. As always, because of the hard work of those inspired by Julia, we were able to raise awareness of pediatric cancer and raise money for pediatric cancer research. Thank you Alicia, Coach Lane, the Chicago Red Stars and Toyota Park for all you did on this very special day!
