Julia’s Legacy of Hope had another successful Cookies from the Heart event at the Ronald McDonald House near Advocate Hope Children’s Hospital in Oak Lawn! Organized by Julia’s good friend from high school, Ashley McDowell, and attended by Julia’s friends and high school teachers, teacher’s from Summit Hill District 161 in Frankfort (Julia’s mom’s colleagues), the event brought smiles to the faces and warmed the hearts of children and families on the Saturday before Easter. We were told by Julia’s Aunt Gina (who volunteers at the Ronald McDonald House) that the cookies were gone by Tuesday!
We hold cookie events at least twice a year, at the RMH in Oak Lawn and in Chicago, near Lurie Children’s Hospital, as part of our mission to comfort kids with cancer.
Thank you Ashley McDonald continuing to organize Cookies from the Heart at both Hope and Lurie Children’s hospitals. In Julia’s honor and in her spirit, you help comfort kids with cancer!
Thank you to all Julia’s Legacy of Hope’s friends. We had a fantastic group of volunteers in November, and they truly did make the most delicious cookies from their hearts. Just look all of the smiles! The Ronald McDonald House not only smelled good this afternoon, but we also brought a bit of joy to the house guests.
