On January 17, 2014, just over two months after Julia died, we held our first fundraiser in the name of Julia’s Legacy of Hope. It was the brainchild of Julia’s brother, Mike, and his boss Tony, at Centennial Lanes Bowling Alley in Tinley Park. All 32 lanes were filled with friends, friends of friends, students, and teachers from Andrew High School, Oak Forest High School, and various schools from Arbor Park District 145. Businesses from across the area donated baskets for silent auction, we had a split the pot and people simply donated money for the cause of curing pediatric cancer. It was our first indication of the generosity of our local community, all due to the love of our amazing daughter, Julia.
