Andrewfest is a unique celebration of spring and the upcoming end of the school year. The students get an hour lunch outside where they can listen to music, get their portrait drawn and partake in many of the delectable delights of the surrounding area.
This year we were able to have an awareness table where we sold Julia’s Legacy of Hope t-shirts, infinity scarves and Julia’s framed quotes. Students and staff were eager to buy and wear the t-shirts throughout the rest of the school year. On the first day many students said they would come back to purchase items the next day and, indeed, they did!
We are not surprised by the generosity of Andrew students. Year after year they hold, in conjunction with their District 230 peers, the largest all youth Relay for Life event in the world. We are also not surprised that Andrew students support the mission of Julia’s Legacy of Hope as much as they do. Each year they ask us when they can help stuff Julia’s Hope and Strength pillows and now they support kids with cancer at Andrewfest.
